Is One Nation Complying with Tax Laws? - Media Release

IS ONE NATION COMPLYING WITH TAX LAWS?

According to the Australian Business Register, One Nation’s Queensland division is not registered for GST. Yet their website offers memberships to people with prices that are GST inclusive.

In Senate Estimates today, the Deputy Commissioner for indirect Tax, Tim Dyce, confirmed that “the law does not allow you to charge GST where you’re not registered.”

SENATOR GALLAGHER: What’s the arrangement if you’re collecting GST but you’re not registered to collect GST? What would happen in that situation?

TIM DYCE, DEPUTY COMMISSIONER FOR INDIRECT TAX: Well you’re not allowed to collect GST if you’re not registered. You’re not allowed to charge GST if you’re not registered. … The law does not allow you to charge GST where you’re not registered.

As Senator Hanson might say: “please explain?”.
