Indigenous Marathon Project and the New York Marathon - Media Release

INDIGENOUS MARATHON PROJECT AND THE NEW YORK MARATHON

This coming Sunday, I will be running the New York Marathon along with this year’s Indigenous Marathon Project participants.

For Indigenous Marathon Project runners, this event marks the capstone of their training, which has covered leadership, health, and hundreds of kilometres of running.

The participants are an extraordinary group. Their life stories are inspiring, and I know that they will go on to make a positive difference in communities across Australia. I feel honoured to be running the race with them.

Founded in 2009 by Rob De Castella, the Indigenous Marathon Project is a testament to the strength, resilience and character of Indigenous Australians.

The Indigenous Marathon Project participants who will run Sunday’s race are Daniel Lloyd, Chris Guyula, Nadine Hunt, Dwayne Jones, Aaron West, John Leha, Alicia Sabatino, Harriet David, Jacinta Gurruwiwi, Eileen Beyers and Jessica Lovett-Murray.

The IMP’s Kellie O’Sullivan and ‘Naked Runners’ organiser Dave ‘Robbo’ Robertson will be streaming a live call of the Marathon from 11.30 pm, Sunday 1 November.
