I was one of the ‘many Canberrans’ and it wasn’t just ‘on live exports’ – we called for a total ban to all countries.
Yes I believe it was a petition to Ban all Live Exports to all countries. We should be following New Zealand!
I am surprised (read not-surprised) that the left tried to leverage this issue to ban all live exports. Why not leverage the issues to ban conscious slaughter HERE IN AUSTRALIA. 1% of animals slaughtered in Australia are conscious when their throat is slit. This is because of a few lines in a couple of ‘holy’ books. Yes, I really do think that we should ban Halal and Kosher slaughter practices here and consider banning the importation of meat from animals slaughtered using this method.
